Rio Vista Computer Science Week 4/18 - 22/2022

Aloha Everyone,

Welcome back!

Year-long classes will be all about gaming!  If you got your basic game mechanics working, it's time to get the ART and the MUSIC dialed in!  Make sure to check your team notes and make sure you are where you need to be as far as finishing on time.  I'll be meeting with all groups this week to talk game dev.  YOU ARE MAKING SOMETHING AWESOME!

Made with Padlet

Wheel classes are getting back into 3D design and finishing up your Project Identification tags.  I'll be meeting with all of you this week to get your designs ready for print.  You will need to choose the one you want to print.

NOTICE: I'm looking for students who want to be part of the stage crew for Rio's presentation of Moana Jr.  Please let me know if you are interested.  Click here for show times & dates

Software Development Procedures:

  • Project Gathering - Big picture from a view of what you can build within your time constraints
  • High & Low-level breakdown - take your game apart into small buildable pieces that you can put together and construct your game
  • Development - Start building your Minimum Viable Product.  Start with the most important parts of the game first, usually the movements, gravity or physics, & sprite interactions.  Save everything else for later when these parts work well.
  • Testing - Test your game every time you make a change to the game.  Test when you add new code, music, art, backdrop, or sprite.  Test, Test, Test!
