RV Computer Science, Robotics, & ELD Week 6/5 - 9/2023

Hello Everyone!

I'll be assisting with the Technology collection this week.

Please follow the directions below and keep working on your projects.

Any problems will be dealt with immediately and without discussion.  So please, keep focused on your work & not disturb others in the class.

I'll be dropping by when I can.

Period 2 - Computer Science


Continue working on the Community Service Project for the rest of the week
with our guest teacher.
  • limited movement
  • stay focused

Tuesday - Morning Routine - typing, Tinkercad designs, Scratch projects, digital portfolio - 13 min

Lost & Found Extravaganza - 
  • Finish your poster & share it with Garcia for printing
  • Put up posters along library & window displays
  • Create a plan for the actual day.  Write it in your journal.
  • Post your work in your portfolio
  • I need Period 5 class release forms ASAP(copies on my desk)
RV Trash Collection
  • Put up posters along library & window displays
  • Prepare announcement for ASB bulletin ASAP
  • Prepare what you will be needing
  • Create a plan for the actual day.  Write it in your journal.
  • Post your work in your portfolio
  • I need Period 5 class release forms ASAP(copies on my desk)
Beach Clean Up
  • Put up posters along library & window displays
  • Prepare announcement for ASB bulletin ASAP
  • Prepare what you will be needing

Door Stop Group
  • does your doorstop work?  test your prototype
  • check your email for form corrections and an email list to send out to all teachers
  • Finish C205 Doors as an example
  • Start printing the different size doorstops
Student Wellness Club
  • Resource list (how did our search filter work, Celeste?)  Post your experience in your portfolio
  • Leave everything Evan will need ready for next year.
  • Post your work in your portfolio
Cord Organizers 
  • Finish the room please - Include the table by the door with the 2 laptops
  • take pictures of your work and how it has improved the workstations(Only if allowed by the guest teacher)
  • include the headphone cords
  • Some students are complaining they can no longer move the keyboards/mouse enough to put them on top of the towers.  Please leave more slack.
  • Maybe make a keyboard/mouse hanger for the side of the tower?
  • Post your work in your portfolio
Headphone hanger
  • I like the taped-down version for the reason that students cannot take them off to play with them.  I already had one student trying to do this.
  • Tape them all down on the monitor on the side closest to the computer headphone jack.
  • Test out Josue's design
  • Post your work in your portfolio
Students with no CSP Project
  • Update Portfolio
  • Get keyboarding tests done and posted with a reflection
  • Finish your Tinkercad design project
  • Finish your game in scratch

Period 3 - Robotics


Continue working on the Robotics Obstacle Course Project for the rest of the week with our guest teacher.

Continue with the Obstacle course

  • Successfully navigate through 2 courses
  • Videotape & send the recording to agarcia@rioschools.org so I can upload it to YouTube
  • Break down your robot and Inventory your box - organize it so everything fits -Nothing outside
    • take out all the small pieces from the top compartment.  Leave ONLY the big pieces.
    • Organize ALL the smaller pieces into the drawers
  • Complete your digital portfolio
After all this is done:
You have a couple of choices to choose from: 
1. Learn to drive and fly Parrot drones
  • You can team up (3 per team) to learn how to drive the rolling drones
  • We'll be learning how to race these drones in both indoor and outdoor courses.
  • Practice only in the first row until all students are with their robotics project
2. Build in Scratch or CoderZ
  • You can work on coding the next video game or robotics challenge in either Scratch or CoderZ
