CS Lesson Plans for Wednesday

Hi all,

Here are your plans for Wednesday.  Please show respect to your teacher, Ms. Cogswell today.  Use your time wisely. I’ll see you all Thursday. If any students come in needing tech repair, please refer them to the library for service if it cannot be handled by our tech support team. Make it a great day!

Basic Plan all Periods

1. 10 min - Daily Touch typing on Typing.com (13 min on clock) - TA or NitroType Games on Fri.
2. 4 min - Check email, personal time, catch up on missed work in this class, OR CHECK THE LESSON PLANS on Class Blog.
3. 4 min - Preview the day’s  - your time to introduce yourself -
4. P2 & 4 - Coding in Scratch - Making an animated Sprite
1. Use this screencast to get started in animating a sprite
1. 1. Animate a Sprite
2. 2. Reaction to an Event or Bumping into Each Other
3. Please embed your simulation into your blog with the title: Code Simulation 2

5. P5 & 6 - Coding in Scratch - Sense the Wall & more
1. Use these screencast to build a program where the sprite will bounce off of the edge and say something.

3. 3. Backgrounds & Sounds

If you finish early, change the variable, add a different look or another sprite.  Have some fun writing new code!

6. 35 min - Work on projects - detailed above
1. Guest teacher - Students may be collaborating which is encouraged.  Or, they may be just visiting so you will need to move around the classroom and listen into conversations.  THIS IS CRUCIAL FOR GOOD CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT!!!!!
7. Done with Project - Students can do these activities when complete with project and posting on their blog.  Early finishers can go on DIY Projects - If you are here, go to Gamestarmechanic.  
8. DIY ACTIVITIES

Blogger	Modify your blogs themes, colors, and layout
Gamestarmechanic	Great game design website.  Sign in, use the year 2004 for registering, select “Get Started” until you get to the “Quest” and click on that.
Tinkercad	Create a new project or work on an old one
Finish Preparing 3D printed ID	Use tools carefully and clean up work table
Code.org	Work on another new task or finish one from last year
Scratch	Go play some games on Scratch!  When you find a game you like, look at the code used to create it

1. 1 min - Shutting down & logging out - I make all student wait at stations till all headphones, tables, and chairs are neatly arranged.  I excuse one row at a time. Do not excuse students until workspaces are clean.
1. P6 needs to put chairs up on FRIDAY!

Reminders:

• Write good, detailed, and readable reflections.  
• Email me if you have any question.
• Collaboration is helpful, socializing is distracting - Know why you are out of your seat and it cannot be to socialize.

InSight Landing on Mars Today!

InSight will be landing today on the surface of Mars!  It will begin to study the inside of the planet using a variety of instruments.  Check out the mission overview of the lander.

Check out this Mission Control Website and browse through all the information.  Once you find something interesting, post it on your blog using the title - InSight on Mars

This site has info on the landing and a Thanksgiving Message from 2 ISS Mission 57 crew members.  Check out how their meal is packaged.
