Hello Everyone!

I hope you had a great Martin Luther King Jr. day with your families

I'll be out today, I caught the flu.

You all have work to do so check your class period on this blog.

Please treat your Guest Teacher with respect and he or she will give you respect.  Remember, respect is earned.  Be good to each other.

I'll be looking at your work during the day so stay on task.

See you by Thursday.

Tuesday Morning Routine - NO Typing This week.  Work on posting your latest pictures in your portfolio.  Write a journal entry of how the process is proceeding.  Include notes like...There were many screws were missing, Some of the screws were hidden by the keyboard, and any other notes of interest.

Continue disassembly of your laptop

  • take pictures of the parts you are taking apart.  Do not abuse the phone privilege or it will be confiscated.
  • make notes in your portfolio of what each part does
  • Have fun learning how to put these together!

I may be gone until Thursday.  Finishing disassembly will be when all the major parts of the laptop are removed from the frame.  Lay them out, take a picture, and label the parts using what ever software you like.  Some suggestions are Google Draw, Canva, Google Slides, or other.

Notice in this picture, they are missing the WIFI adaptor, the CPU (Central Processing Unit), and the RAM memory sticks.

Hi all, I'm really bummed about the trip.  Our district Science leader is working on rescheduling the field trip.  More info to follow.

You will continue working on your GWS book tasks.  We are currently on task 3, building a data table of shark speed.   We are calculating the distance each shark travels each day on average.  The instructions are in the book.

When done with the data table, you will build a bar graph to clearly represent the data table information.

Make sure to complete steps 4, 5, and 6.

Wednesday Morning Routine

Continue with task 3

If you finish, please have the teacher check your work according to the instructions

If approved, you can start looking at the the next task which will have us building a Scatter Plot graph using an existing data table.

Tuesday Morning Routine

Do typing for 13 minutes to start the class.  Then go straight to IXL.

Hi all, Thank you to those of you who worked hard on your tasks in No Red Ink & IXL.  Several of you are really crushing it.  Not only did you finish many of the task but several of you have mastered some skills.

Thanks to most of our groups for finishing No Red Ink.  Axel, Jose, Saul, and Angel still need to finish.

Damian and Jesus, you are doing great.  I added some higher-level tasks for you today

Several of you have not logged on or have done very little work.  Let me know by email if there is a problem.

I have not seen any work in IXL from Jose, Nataly, Max, Jayleen, Saul, Abraham, Angel, Susana, Alan, Ashly, Elvin, Nataly, & Oswaldo.  It's ok for now because many of you were finishing No Red Ink.  Keep moving forward.

Make sure you log into Clever first and then into IXL.  Damian & Jesus seem to know how to use this program so ask them for help if needed.  You will work on this until Thursday.  Thanks Damian & Jesus:)

I'll be checking your work from home so please think about what you are doing.

Laptop Disassembly & Reassembly Project - Steps for the week with your partner

All Teams need to watch this video FIRST! - How to Prevent Stripping a Screw

Safety tip - prevent static shock - To prepare for computer repair with antistatic measures, wear an anti-static wrist strap connected to a grounded metal object like the computer case, use an anti-static mat on your work surface, keep components in anti-static bags until ready to install, and always touch a grounded metal object before handling sensitive components; essentially, grounding yourself to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) that could damage delicate electronics

Stop Working and clean up at 9:45 am.  Make sure to store your parts safely & inventory your toolbox

  1. Prepare your portfolio with:
    1. a page for this project labeled with the title above
    2. Use the 3 picture/3 text template
    3. make sure to have a phone (ask for permission) or borrow a camera from Garcia
    4. Take pictures all along the project to post in your portfolio
  2. Watch this video to prepare yourself
  3. Each Day this Week - Gather your tools and laptop
    1. Choose an area in the classroom where you and your teammate have plenty of room to work
    2. Inventory your toolbox.  Make sure you use the same book for the week.  The box and the laptop should be checked out at this link
    3. Make sure you have a place to SAFELY store your screws
    4. Take pictures along the way so you know how it looks BEFORE you take it apart.
    5.  Take your time.  You have this week to take it apart
    6. Store your parts in a safe manner
  4. Name the internal parts of the laptop.
    1. Use the info on this link to identify the parts of the computer
    2. When you have it apart, you will need to take a picture with labels on the major components for your portfolio.  Here is an example:

    3. This will be the end of the disassembly
  5. Reassemble - Watch this video before you start
    1. Follow the same safety procedures as above
