Today, you will be learning some coding basics so you can start building a story in Scratch using code. Follow the steps below.
- Sign in to our Scratch classroom by clicking on this link
- When creating your Scratch name, DON'T use your first and last name. Create a gamer name
- Password should be your rioschools google password
- Do not put your real birthday, put 2011 for the year
- You should be in.
- Start working on the lesson that I have created for you by following the tutorial.
- There are some students in class who have used Scratch before. It is a little tough to start but it gets easier quickly.
Goals:
- Create a short story where 2 or more characters are talking about a topic. Your characters should use descriptive language and they can use our sentence frames if you want.
Steps: once you are in Scratch
- 5 minutes free time in Scratch to play games
- Go to the top menu and click on "Create"
- You are now in the coding program. Click on "untitled" and write your first name and last initial
- Click on "Tutorial"
- Scroll down and click on "Tell a Story"
- Use the small window that is your tutorial. Click on the arrow and follow each step carefully. You can use your own dialogue to tell a short descriptive story.
