RV Robotics, Science, ELD STEAM Week 11/12 - 14/2025

 Hello Everyone!

I am so sorry that I cannot be with you this short week.  This is the last week of Trimester 1.  Please make sure to turn in all your work.  I am starting to grade your work.  Please check to make sure you have turned in your work.  

The assignments are updated in the Student Portal.

Using the slideshow from above, you will start to learn about Potential and Kinetic Energy.  You will experiment in a couple of simulations, view a few videos, and do some reading to prepare you for the final project, build a Paper Rollercoaster!

Today, with the teacher - work on slides 1 - 6.

Today, you will be learning some coding basics so you can start building a story in Scratch using code.  Follow the steps below.
  1. Sign in to our Scratch classroom by clicking on this link
  2. When creating your Scratch name, DON'T use your first and last name.  Create a gamer name
  3. Password should be your rioschools google password
  4. Do not put your real birthday, put 2011 for the year
  5. You should be in.
  6. Start working on the lesson that I have created for you by following the tutorial.
  7. There are some students in class who have used Scratch before.  It is a little tough to start but it gets easier quickly.

Goals:
  • Create a short story where 2 or more characters are talking about a topic.  Your characters should use descriptive language and they can use our sentence frames if you want.
Steps: once you are in Scratch

  1. 5 minutes free time in Scratch to play games
  2. Go to the top menu and click on "Create" 

  3. You are now in the coding program.  Click on "untitled" and write your first name and last initial 

  4. Click on "Tutorial"


  5. Scroll down and click on "Tell a Story"

  6. Use the small window that is your tutorial.  Click on the arrow and follow each step carefully.  You can use your own dialogue to tell a short descriptive story.
