RV Robotics, Science, STEAM ELD Week 5/26 -29/2026

 Hello Everyone!

Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock - our time together is rapidly coming to a close.  There is still plenty to do in each of your classes.  Make sure you know what needs to get done in every class and finish strong.

Robotics will have homework this week.  I have notified your parents that they need to view your portfolio.  You need to explain that the majority of your grade comes from how you present your completed project.

We will discuss what will serve as proof of completion for this homework.

We are working towards completing and competing in the Sumo Bot competition.

For this project, you will not have to complete a post for project.  We'll look at which ones need to be posted in your portfolio.

Science will be finishing their GWS project this week.  Then we will do a short project on cells and choices.

STEAM ELD will be working on communication this week after we finish our Domino Drop Challenge.

Let's make it a great last week of May!

Homework message to your parents -
Homework for Robotics?
Hi all, My name is Augustine Garcia and I am your child's Robotics teacher.  As we finish this year, I have a favor to ask of you.

Your child has been working on some very interesting technology and has completed many projects that will support their 21st century education.   They don't like to talk about it too much about it, so I have created this Homework task for them to accomplish.  Here is how it goes:
1. Students need schedule a meeting with you for at least 10 minutes.
2. In that time, they need to show you their portfolio on a computer.
3. They must show you the published version and not the editing version.
4. You should be able to navigate on your own through the portfolio.  They can assist you if needed.
5. Please ask questions about the project.  The writen reflections and descriptions are, in most cases, is their authentic writing.  So is the style of the portfolio.
6. Ask them questions.  They should be able to give you detailed answers.
7. Proof of the assingment - I am working with the students to develop several ways to prove that you saw their work.  That may include photos, an email from you to me, or other.   Due by 6/3/26

That's it.  They need to show you their currated portfolio, you can ask them questions, give comments, and critique their work.

Portfolios have started to support or replace job applications in many industries.  Many students will need to create a portfolio of their best work in high school and college.  This may have been the first time they were responsible for this currated selection of their work.  They have done a good job building these portfolios to show off their work and their unique sense of style.  Please share in praising and critiquing their wonderful work.

Let me know if you have any questions.
