  2. Make sure your April Keyboarding Test is done and posted in your blog
  3. Progress Report Grades will be posted by the end of Friday.   Last chance to get work in before I post grades is today.
  4. Play some video games on Scratch

Game Development Post - Post Link your game to an image of the game in your blog.  Write a reflection reviewing the process of building your game.  Please include some of the vocabulary used to develop your game.  Here are some examples that can be found in past class blog posts. (Project Requirements, Hi/Lo Development, Game Development, Testing, Distribution, Wrap up)
  3. Game Dev Peer Survey - This will be available on Wednesday.  Please fill in as honestly as possible.  You do not need to do this in class, it can be done from home.
  4. CATCH UP - Check your grades, if you are missing anything, please get it done ASAP.  Here is a list of this trimester's past assignments.

Rio Vista Computer Science Week 4/25 - 29/2022

 Aloha Everyone,

Welcome back! 

Year-long classes are finishing games.  Playability is the most important thing.  Next is a second level.  Finally, the best art, music, an extras you can finish this week.  Make sure to check your team notes and make sure you are where you need to be as far as finishing on time.  I'll be meeting with all groups this week to talk game dev.  YOU ARE MAKING something that most students will never get to make!  

Wheel classes are getting back into 3D design and finishing up your Project Identification tags.  I'll be meeting with all of you this week to get your designs ready for print.  We will also be working with your gmail and your portfolio this week.

Rio Vista Computer Science Week 4/18 - 22/2022

Year-long classes will be all about gaming!  If you got your basic game mechanics working, it's time to get the ART and the MUSIC dialed in!  Make sure to check your team notes and make sure you are where you need to be as far as finishing on time.  I'll be meeting with all groups this week to talk game dev.  YOU ARE MAKING SOMETHING AWESOME!

Software Development Procedures:

  • Project Gathering - Big picture from a view of what you can build within your time constraints
  • High & Low-level breakdown - take your game apart into small buildable pieces that you can put together and construct your game
  • Development - Start building your Minimum Viable Product.  Start with the most important parts of the game first, usually the movements, gravity or physics, & sprite interactions.  Save everything else for later when these parts work well.
  • Testing - Test your game every time you make a change to the game.  Test when you add new code, music, art, backdrop, or sprite.  Test, Test, Test!
  • Deployment - Your game is ready to share with everyone and ready to enter Skoolcade!
